We’ve been working on some performance issues. Upgrading to Ruby on Rails 2.1 framework from 1.2 helps a bit by using the database a little bit less, but the main thing is we have memcached setup for the song grid.
This means the main song library listing of your music will be much more responsive and fluid. When scrolling at a “medium pace” you’ll never see any black screens anymore.
These updates are pretty big, so we’ll be doing a bit more testing and will release the new modifications shortly. As always, send bug reports and feedback to us on the Feedback tab or the forum.

We’re getting a new member every minute right now, and that’s a lot of music being sycned up. About 60,000 songs an hour, 6,000 songs a minute!
We got hit big time from a TechCrunch blog post. The speed of searching music and stuff will be slow for a little while, but we’re working on it.
It’s clear to us this is a desired service, we will work hard to upgrade our hardware and speed the site back up.
